LadyUmbrella Ltd.

LadyUmbrella

Cute. Quirky. Eye-catching. High quality shirts made with 100% combed cotton. What more would one need to start a smash-hit tee-shirt company?

Self-described as funky and unique, LadyUmbrella is a company based out of Dublin, Ireland. This indie company is looking to take their shirts to a level higher than just cute apparel… their primary goal is to fuse art with fashion.

And boy, do they ever. The primary focus is that of LadyUmbrella, a heroine featured on each tee-shirt with her feathered cohorts. However, LadyUmbrella’s friends will not be limited to just that of the winged breed. This is simply the first line of the company’s shirts which is appropriately titled “La Primera Coleccion”. It’s innovative and it’s fun.

My personal favorite is the pink shirt known as “The Strut”, where LadyUmbrella stands with a hand on her hip and an attitude that shouts, “I’m here! Look at me!”. Her feathered friend is less than impressed and the shirt speaks volumes about the life of a diva and the friends that she surrounds herself with. Click on the picture to check out the official backstory of the shirt… and while you’re at it, check out the rest of the gallery!

Spanish designer Elena Montes Casado, a fine arts graduate from Barcelona who has a love for Photoshop and Illustrator, moved from her native country to Ireland in 2007. I’m sure that you are all aware of what the comparison of weather is like between the two countries. The artist was faced with more umbrellas than she could have ever imagined in one lifetime. Umbrellas, hidden and obscure faces and dampness.

Who knew that from all of this a cartoon with an umbrella-head would be born? These shirts are sure to light up any rainy day. And Robert, co-creator of LadyUmbrella, is making sure that those days are brightened up all over the world, not just Ireland. The casting of their network will be growing exponentially and the company is aspiring to place stores in Norway, Sweden and the United States.

Although the store is not live at the moment, the company is taking pre-orders for their tee-shirts, which should range between the prices of €20 to €25 ($30-$37). Ordering a shirt is simple— all you have to do is email to the creators at ladyumbrellaltd@gmail.com with your shirt choice and size. Or, for those too busy playing Farmville to log off of Facebook, you can send a message to LadyUmbrella there. Become a fan! (click it! do it!) It’s completely worth it— everyone will be receiving 10% discounts by ordering through Facebook.

And there’s more! Is it even possible?

Each hangtag will have those personalized backstories printed onto them. An added bonus is that each tag will be rubber-stamped, which essentially means that you, the buyer, will be getting a one-of-a-kind shirt. Think of it as an art print. The stamp will list the batch and model numbers as well as signatures and dates. These tags will be tied with black satin ribbons, giving you that extra customization and swank that we all know and love so deeply.

Check them out and make sure that you become a fan via Facebook: LadyUmbrella is currently holding a contest (or as they call it, a “compe-TEE-tion”) where three lucky winners will receive their choice of two of the company’s new shirts just by filling in the blanks of the following sentence:

“Warning: LadyUmbrella may not keep you dry but…”

The options are endless!
